 Winter Youth Retreat

"Riddle Me This, Riddle Me That"

The Winter Youth Retreat in February of 2009 was a great success! Over 200 Youth came together for our first Winter Youth Retreat. We would like to thank the Youth Retreat Committee for planning this great weekend!

“This winter camp was a benefit to me in many ways, After
the camp I started to read the bible everyday. Searching for
any questions I might have through the bible. I’m
not afraid of what other people think of me while I am
Praising God.” ~Toshe

BIENNIAL YOUTH RALLY

300 youth from our churches joined the Biennial on Saturday, June 27th at the Pasadena Convention Center to be inspired by Nick Vujicic who shared how he has been the hands and feet of Christ having been born without hands and feet. Many youth were deeply touched and responded to the invitation to follow Christ!

Arizona Encounter –

July 26-August 1, 2009

Youth from One in Christ Church in San Diego,

First Baptist Church of Santa Ana, First Baptist Church of L.A. joined together with Native American Youth from Clarkdale, AZ and Low Mountain, AZ to build community with one another while camping at the Grand Canyon for 4 days. Highlights during our time together included worship, devotions by our leaders,

sharing meals together, hikes along the rim and into the Grand Canyon. After our time together at the Canyon the youth from San Diego went to Clarkdale on the Yavapai-Apache Reservation and the others went to Low Mountain (Navajo Reservation) to deepen our connection with one another.

Mexico Mission Trip -

August 10-16, 2009

This summer brought a much smaller group of youth and

leaders from Chinese Zion BC and Palos Verdes Baptist Church to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ in Ensenada. Painting, concrete work and amazing fellowship helped extend God’s Kingdom in Mexico.

“I came down to Ensenada with every intention of working myself to the bone and giving all of my energy in the week I would be serving to benefit the churches in Ensenada. Little did I know how much I would learn from them! God revealed my own personal lack of passion for Him through the way His people in Mexico carried themselves during and outside of services. Their energy and love for God and each other is really encouraging and very amazing! It was truly a blessing to be able to serve in Ensenada.”

Spencer – Palos Verdes Baptist Church

Serve the City - August 19-22, 2009
25 youth and leaders from First Baptist Church of L.A., Park Windsor Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Santa Ana, CrossRoad came together to serve Los Angeles! Highlights included:
  • Serving breakfast to the homeless at the Union Rescue Mission and Midnight Mission on skid row
  • A tour of L.A. that included walking Skid Row and Beverly Hills and becoming aware of the poverty in both places.
  • Serving churches in our region – Faith In Christ Ministries; Palos Verdes Baptist Church; Park Windsor Baptist Church.
  • Volunteering at the Los Angeles Food Bank.
  • Visiting the Dream Center and experiencing their outreach in Hollywood.
  • Going to the Dodger Game – thanks to the Dodgers for donating 100 tickets that were given to people in our churches.

“From this whole experience I have learned a lot. When I had to wake up at 5 every morning to help feed people I often complained, but after I helped I felt like a better person because I helped someone. I really appreciated it because the homeless people were giving me advice like staying in school and stuff and I was very grateful for that. Overall this was just a great experience and I am glad that I came.” Shayne - Park Windsor Baptist Church
